Powder Coating For Small Business And The Hobbyist
Our Commitment

The idea for Big Muskie Powder Coating Co. was first conceived of in early January of 2024. Founder and owner of the company, Matthew Gabanyic, had been working in an industry which depended upon quality, and durable powder coating for the products which he was manufacturing. Over the course of about five years, he had noticed some very alarming issues with bigger powder coating companies, which impacted his business negatively, and there didn't seem to be any solution that presented itself with other larger powder companies. So, he decided to do something about it on his own, and did what he has always done; reinvent himself, and learn yet another trade for the purpose of solving a problem. After all, sometimes if you want something done right, do it yourself.
One of the major issues that seemed to keep coming into the picture was, big contracts always seemed push smaller repeat customers to the side. Not only was the work itself put on hold for the purpose of catering to the larger contracts but, the quality seemed to always decrease, while the prices, and the never ending fees for "setup" would become more numerous and outrageous. In other words, if some person who makes classic car restoration a hobby, wanted a simple set of rims done, their price is through the roof, the time it takes to get to the order became longer and longer (with very little explanation), and the pride and quality in the work has gotten increasingly worse. Customer service seems to have become a thing of the past in this industry lately and, Big Muskie Powder Coating is looking to be a leader in the solution to that issue by making small business and smaller projects the focus of their future.
So, in early January 2024, Matthew Gabanyic acquired an old industrial refrigerator. With the help of many people, he converted it into his first (currently only) powder coating oven. Through this conversion, he studied everything powder coating for months. Eventually, through a hectic work schedule and family obligations, he put the peddle down on building the rest of what he needed for the business (with the help of his wife Maria, of course) to get started in this venture. In mid Summer 2025, he put powder to his first part, then realized he can actually do this. Ever since then, experimenting has been the mainstay with different techniques and materials for the purpose of delivering complete, and overwhelming satisfaction to his first of many customers. Matthew understands that money is good, and is a goal but, it's so much sweeter when coupled with a smile from a customer.
